Blue Cheese Stuffed Dates
Widely grown in Arab countries, the date is the fruit of the date palm. Dates are sweet and rich with a chewy, sticky texture. They?re delicious served with cheese or as an after dinner treat, stuffed with a whole almond and rolled in icing sugar. The recipe I am going to share with you today comes from a very dear friend of mine Şule Ural, who is a great cook. This time the combination is dates and blue cheese, garnished with fresh almonds. Serving tasty appetizers is the best way to start a night of entertaining in your home and this is a very tasty appetizer especially served with wine, it will disappear quickly from anyone's party.
Ingredients:
- 500 gr dates
- 1 cup of crumbled blue cheese
- 1/2 cup whole natural almonds
How To:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Make a lengthwise slit in each date not cutting all the way through. Remove the pits. Spoon a teaspoon of blue cheese inside each date, and stuff with one or two almonds. Bring the ends together. Place stuffed dates on baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 5 -7 minutes. Serve warm.
