Biscuits With Green Olives
Biscuits are simple to make and delicious eaten hot, warm or cold.They are best on the day of serving but can be prepared a night before and baked the next day. Great for brunches or for dinner entertaintments.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon milk
- 20-25 pitted green olives (chopped)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
How To:
Preheat oven to 400 F. In a large mixing bowl sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter with fork or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add in chopped olives, parsley and dill.
Pour milk into flour mixture while stirring with a fork. Mix in milk until dough is soft, moist and pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead 25 times. Roll dough out into a 1 inch thick sheet and cut with a floured biscuit or cookie cutter. Press together unused dough and repeat rolling and cutting procedure.
Place biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet and bake until golden brown, about 15 minutes.
